While his faith may be on the conservative side, he's talking about picking Bible verses to use when praying for your family members that DON'T emphasize those ideas, but rather, the idea of one's personal responsibility to others. While it says something about the nature of the Bible, I'm not sure his comments are even remotely in context in that attack ad.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
