My wife was travelling and my mother called me to say that a plane had crashed in NYC into a building and to where was Sherri flying? i had just walked my kids to school and was coming in the front door. I assured my mother that my wife had already called me and told me she landed in Maine a couple of hours earlier. I turned on the television to find out what was going on. About fifteen minutes later the second plane hit.

I remember sitting there thinking WTF?! I was stunned by what was happening. The rest of the morning was a blur of phone calls trying to track family. Between the time the first plane hit and the buildings fell my niece, Chloe, was born. I was an uncle again. All my family was safe.

However, it was unnerving having my wife trapped in Maine for nearly a week. She had flown in for a morning meeting expecting to be back in Ohio no later than 8:00 PM. But with everything grounded, she was stuck.

It was all a very surreal time.
