If you don't like how the Catholic Church operates, fine. Don't be Catholic. Religion, especially here in the West, is a choice. If you don't want to/can't follow the rules of your chosen religion, then leave or expect to be expelled. The same goes for religious schools and work programs.
It's called freedom. Freedom to choose which religion to follow, and freedom for that religion to choose it's beliefs.
