Big property damage here, but no casualties

... it's really hard to be living on the other side of the world and wondering whether everyone's ok.
Everyone is fine, just a big clean-up to do
I love living here in Scotland. I just wish all of my family was here too. We hardly ever get earthquakes, and certainly not of that magnitude.
Edinburgh is definitely a cool town, but Scotland is chilly though. Edinburgh is known to be a literature-writer friendly town. And of course you have a good, (albeit small) social-circle of wotmania/RAFO folks over there. I thought when I visited in '09 that eventually you guys could do something exciting to take advantage of these points, but probably you guys just need to have a bit more inspiration.
Edinburgh would definitely be an OK place for families to settle.
Also: Tim & I are back from our highland jaunt. Loving the new set up of the site.
I hope you had a good time.
/NSSP: when you hear of 7.4 magnitude earthquakes striking near where your family lives...

I also assume all your relatives have disinherited you as an act of self preservation.
