Yeah I used to drive an older Civic and I really liked it, but

I had briefly considered it but a couple of major drawbacks in my opinion hold me back on it.
A trimmed out Honda civic equivalent to the new CR-Z is only about 1000 dollars less. Although the buying price will probably be greater ultimately considering the dealerships will be willing to negotiate further on the civic than a new car.
Really though, Ive always thought the Honda Civic was an ugly car, and it's exterior styling hasn't seem to have changed in the past 5 years since when I last when car shopping. Furthermore there appears to be a redesign of the civic happening for 2012, and I don't really want to suffer from buyer's regret further down the road.
The Civic SI may just be a little too ricer for my taste.

I am not a fan of the newer model. Maybe it's just me, but I really don't like the digital dashboard/speedometer layout. The model I drove was an 01 EX that cost me $17.5K US, had 127 hp, and it got 38 MPG highway. The current civics are a shame... 140 hp, 34 mpg highway, $17.5 US wouldn't get me anything close to what I had (yes, inflation, but still)
It's a real shame that the mpg actually went down over the past 9 years, on a car that had mpg as a major selling point. Maybe they did that so the mpg freaks like me would have to spend more $$ to buy their hybrids
Luckily for me though, I have no use for a car atm
Need help making a car buying decision

You can get the RX-8 for around 23, but yeah, the rotary engine is scary.
