I had briefly considered it but a couple of major drawbacks in my opinion hold me back on it.
A trimmed out Honda civic equivalent to the new CR-Z is only about 1000 dollars less. Although the buying price will probably be greater ultimately considering the dealerships will be willing to negotiate further on the civic than a new car.
Really though, Ive always thought the Honda Civic was an ugly car, and it's exterior styling hasn't seem to have changed in the past 5 years since when I last when car shopping. Furthermore there appears to be a redesign of the civic happening for 2012, and I don't really want to suffer from buyer's regret further down the road.
The Civic SI may just be a little too ricer for my taste.

You can get the RX-8 for around 23, but yeah, the rotary engine is scary.
