If you have a 2006 Sonata, why are you looking for a new car? By now, the Sonata should be paid for yet have several years of life ahead of it.

Well my dad bought me the Mustang while I was young and stupid and I didn't end up driving it for long as I headed off the school. So it ended up being garaged for a few years while he drove his old Toyota Camry. The Camry pooped out eventually and he switched to driving the Mustang and once I got my first real job I decided in a fit of irrational rationality that my next car should be a four door sedan. The four door sedan turned out to be the 2006 Sonata. Unfortunately since purchasing the sedan the Mustang has gone from bad to worse and my dad started a new job earlier this year requiring a lengthy commute and driving a mechanically unreliable Mustang (without air conditioning) in the Florida summer is suicidal. So we switched cars as my daily commute is relatively short. I've got enough saved up now to finally buy a new car to replace the Mustang. My family is pretty thrifty and always paid full cash for every car we've owned, no loans or leasing here. If you can't afford to pay for it in full, you cant afford to buy it. The only exception to the rule my parents made was for their house and even then they put down a six figure down payment and paid off the remainder a few years later by saving their asses off.

Now that I'm slightly older and stupider, I felt it would be a good idea to buy a new car to replace the mustang. While the worst of the Florida heat is getting ready to be behind me, I'd still like a car that didn't take three or more turns of the key (with a black extruded key slot that gets hot enough to burn my fingers if I touch it more than briefly) to get started. The general shitty economy in the U.S. (and Florida in particular) coupled with a mediocre recovery in car sales this year after the carpocalypse of 2009 means that I can probably get a good deal on one if I buy soon.
