Ho hum, so the ping failed. Can you do me a favour and ping another website (eg. ' ping google.com ' ) just to be certain that he has permission to use the ping command at work?
If the ping to google works (4 packets 'received' on the last line instead of 4 packets 'lost'), it would seem like a firewall issue somewhere - either on the local computer or on the company network. If the ping to google fails, the investigation will continue!!
He has tried restarting the computer, right?
I'm kidding, feel free to NB me if it's easier.
