It's the same sort of set up in Phoenix, where there are exits about every mile...AND most of the city is set into a regular grid pattern. There is absolutely, positively, no logical reason to make a dangerous action so that you don't miss your exit, except on those rare portions of the highway--mostly downtown or at highway intersections--where missing your exit does entail a good amount of time to get back to where you needed to go. But even then, the most dangerous action you should make is the "oh shit there it is" slow down and exit. MAYBE, if you're running late, crossing ONE lane of traffic to do it. BUT SOMEONE BETTER BE DYING.

I've seen people go almost straight horizontal to get cross 4 full lanes of traffic (they were in the carpool lane on the far inside), to get to an exit...where really, a mile or two later would have still perfectly suited their needs.
