To be honest, I just see the police abusing the tools their given far too frequently these days. I bet people who asked 'What if" when tasers were first given out where poo-poo'd as well...and now we have police men who taser old women and people not resisting them. Repeatedly.
If I had more faith in the police (on the whole), I'd have less problems with it...but I don't.
And the question "freedom or peace" is vastly over simplifying the two choices. I'd like for police to use their tools appropriately so I can have freedom and peace. Instead of police dragging my disabled brother (he uses a cane) off without a word, sitting him in a dark room and accusing him of shoplifting in a store, even after he emptied out his pockets. And yes, it was a police officer and not a security guard.
