The whole TV special was a bit much, agreed, but he's not wrong when he says Cleveland fans were spoiled, either. And Gilbert's letter was utterly beyond the pale - if I were an NBA player, I sure as hell wouldn't want someone capable of that sort of stunt as my boss.
I think his comments about Akron and Cleveland make a certain amount of sense. Everyone living in some smaller city in the vicinity of a bigger one can sympathize, I would think - the people from the big city are seen as arrogant about their city. Whether it was smart to go and say that in public, that's another question...
