Jordan would be a rather big culture shock, and I think as a Westerner in the Middle East it takes a very big effort to integrate into the actual native society instead of merely living in expat circles (which I would imagine are not very different from how Westerners are at home)... interesting idea, though.
As for Australia, I'm not sure it's much less socialist than the rest of the Western world. Certainly they have a party that closer resembles American conservatives than the right-wing parties of most other Western countries, but the current government is a social-democratic one, and as far as I'm aware Australia has a social security and nationalized health care system like any other Western country... I could be wrong, though, don't know too much about it.
