And I kind of doubt the SC will rule in favour of gay marriage, so I'm not sure if the legal road isn't a bit counterproductive... give it a few years and California at least will have a majority in favour that can legalize it once and for all.

California votes on it the first time. No gay marriage, but the courts overturn it.

So we keep doing this until there is a majority of voters in favor of gay marriage...and then its good? Is that how voting should be? Despite what the voters say over and over again, we ignore the will of the people until said will has changed to be something that some believe is ideologically favorable, and then its ok?
