I have to admit, I've met more cats with fleas than dogs... Phelix Send a noteboard - 01/08/2010 07:01:44 PM
Even the guy running as a conservative is a member of a union. I live in WA, and my District houses Boeing's primary plant... plus, the town/area I live in was originally founded as a Mill town for the lumber industry. There are so many Unions around here that, unless you work in retail or are a Professional, you're likely unionized.

Also, I seem to recall that phrase having to do with dogs.

My father had to be in a union when he worked for General Motors most of his adult like. He hated the union. I hate them, too. They're an anachronism in today's workplace. Allowing the unionization of public employees has been a disaster.

Again, I agree... my Dad works for Boeing as a line machinist. The union listens to themselves, not the workers they're supposed to represent. Last year, so many of our families couldn't support a strike, but the union wanted to force concessions out of Boeing for a better contract (in the middle of the Recession)... so they pushed and pushed until the rank and file authorized a strike. Then they were shocked when Boeing didn't put their new 787 plant here in WA, but instead put it in a Right To Work state.

In theory, allowing public employees to unionize is fine. They have a shared experience, and can benefit from collective bargaining... but in actuality, it's become a situation where our state is forced to maintain contracts and employees it cannot afford simply because they're unionized, and where that same group of public employees have the clout to drive out legislators.
