Just about everything it touches literally turns to shit. Except for actual shit, which it doesn't bother to handle hence the reason why India's streets are overflowing with the stuff.
Technology makes products cheaper, but the funny thing is that people keep demanding more performance. So even as some piece of technology theoretically approaches free, it will be discontinued for a newer more expensive model. There is absolutely no way that tablet costs $35 dollars to manufacture. The bill of materials for a capacitive touch screen of that size alone would eat up most of that cost. You can bet your last penny that nearly all of the components are manufactured in and imported from China.
More likely it costs around $235 to actually make, with a government subsidy covering the extra cost. India being India, the materials in the tablet probably only costs $135, but various grandees in various ministries inevitably have their snouts in the trough pocketing the difference.
