I downloaded the os update yesterday and I've seen the bars drop significantly BlackAdder Send a noteboard - 17/07/2010 07:44:37 PM
I used to always have 5 constant bars at home, now I get 3-4 max, sometimes 2, and it changes much more frequently. That said, it hasn't affected my ability to make/receive calls, and I'm not on the ATT network (which really shouldn't affect it, since it's a calculation flaw regardless, but who knows)

I will NEVER go back to BlackBerry. In the first 48 hours of having an iPhone, I threw about 10GB of music into it (I got the 32GB version), downloaded all sorts of fun apps like Battleship, flight trackers and currency converters, a Russian calendar with information on whose ??????? (name day) it is, the apps for Facebook, Wikipedia, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal (I can't find one for The Economist, though, oddly) and sync'ed the phone with all my e-mail accounts nearly automatically (I had to adjust the Port number for outgoing mail on one account but other than that all the information was automatically pulled from Outlook).

I have the International keyboard on and can type in Russian and Chinese (the BlackBerry had a screwed up function for typing in Russian that messed up the Russian keyboard layout and this was after a long time struggling to get the software loaded into it).

I'm sure that the Droid-based phones are similarly easy to work, but regardless of whether I stay with Apple I will never go back to BlackBerry.

I really don't like the apps for most websites. They tend to clutter up the phone, so I just use bookmarks in Safari for a cleaner, faster phone.

IMO, the best news app for the iPhone is Reuters (although I haven't tried the Economist). The others are not that great, especially the WSJ one. It sucks.

I can't comment on BlackBerry, having never used one, but I much prefer Droid's customizability, at least, without having to resort to hacking that could void the warranty on a $1000 device.
