Have you had it (or PK, Lasik, etc.)? Were you freaked out? Was the thinking about it worse then the actual surgery? Will the 5mg of Valium they will give me be enough or should I just have my doctor prescribe me Xanax?

I have indeed had it. I wasn't really bothered but mummy dearest wasn't having me walking up the aisle in anything less than absolutely perfect physical shape :D

Worrying and fretting was definitely worse than the surgery. I HATE people touching my eyes or my ears and I was freaked out entirely but I made myself stay calm for the examinations and suchlike. The Valium will do you fine.

Yeah, I'm just worrying about it. I'm sure it will be fine, so many people have had it done. It's just the thought of my eyes being cut on. Ewwhhh...

What the hell kind of doctor gives you Xanax on demand immediately prior to surgery? Fucking hell.

I'm not sure what you mean. The eye surgeon will give me Valium at the office but if I explained the situation to my doctor and that I am nervous that the Valium won't work and that I would rather take a Xanax he would probably prescribe me a non-refillable dose. Is that unusual in Ireland? I mean I couldn't demand it from him, he could tell me no. But, I have pretty good rapport with my doctor so he probably would do it.

I'm too chicken to go on Youtube and check a surgery out, should I just give in and view it or do I not want to know?

Why would you do that to yourself?

I'll probably check it out after the surgery. I guess I am just curious but yeah, I don't think it would be wise to watch it.

Any other thoughts?

They give you a teddy bear to hold over here, it's comforting :D

I had drier eyes than usual for a year afterward but that's gone now.

I have this whole schedule before and after surgery set up with different fake tears and some tear producing medicine. Plus I have checkups and may be on the medicine for like six months depending on how the exams go. Can't be any worse than dry contact lenses. :[

Warning - sleeping pills might be a good plan for the few days afterward. I was in quite a lot of pain.
