As of this moment, the top 3 teams in baseball, all of baseball, reside in the A.L. East. Big surprise, I know. I have a few questions, though.
1. How do you think things are going to look at the break?
I think things are going to look mostly the same, standings wise, except I expect Cincinnati to overtake the Cardinals and Detroit to move ahead of Minnesota.
2. Which teams do you feel are limping into the break?
Tampa Bay is in desperate need of the break. They killed their lead in the A.L. East and with the Sox making a huge surge and the Yankees always there, it will be tough to regain their place.
I also feel that the Yankees are in need of the break, with A-Rods injury and slump and Burnett performing so poorly (I'm not surprised by this, I actually expect him to land on the D.L soon).
Third, I think the Phillies could use the break. Really, trailing the Mets AND the Braves? The Phillies really need to regroup and make some adjustments.
3. Which teams have disappointed you this half?
Well, I'm not disappointed by this team, but I know a lot of people are (they're playing as I expected them to place). Seattle isn't living up to the hype that was expected of them. Only 5 teams are playing worse than they are. All I heard about this past offseason was how great they'd be. They're 13 games under .500. Thats tough to make up at any point of the season.
4. Which teams have surprised you?
Texas. Wow. Where did they come from? I know they've had bats, but the pitching has been solid. I don't expect it to last, but I didn't expect it to begin, either.
5. How big do you think the trade deadline will be and who do you think will move?
think it will be a quiet one but I do expect to see someone like Dan Haren or Ben Sheets to move.
6. Who's going to the playoffs this season?
Red Sox, Yankees, Detroit, Texas, Atlanta, Reds, Cardinals, and the Giants.
7. Last, who's taking it all?
Red Sox
8. Isn't baseball so much more exciting than the World Cup?
Yes. Perhaps a thousand times better, maybe a million.
