Well, a lot of them happen to be gay, which would be kind of a deal breaker for most chicks. Not that I'm saying I'd be into effeminate guys (this conversation is heading downhill fast... ) just that it perplexes me how guys who consider a loud belch a suitable substitute for "I Love you" get dates.
Women are just as disgusting as guys, perhaps more so. Guys are just more open about it.
It's not a hard and fast rule, obviously, but in my experience the trend is for sick people to be attracted to other sick people, and repulsed by healthy ones (it doesn't help that healthy people tend to regard them as in the "run screaming" category. ) I'm currently watching my soon to be divorced uncle go through a lot of the same thought processes I did last year, with greater cause, of course. What I learned from my own brief unpleasantness is 1) we all have issues, so making everything the other persons fault does US no long term good and 2) until we accept things as they are instead of wishing they were otherwise we can't progress, not in terms of restoring lasting happiness and not in terms of resolving our own issues. If someone keeps getting tangled up with douches that has to be done, else they'll just bounce from douche to douche indefinitely, and if they DO happen to meet someone worth being with that person will either get dragged down to their level or want nothing to do with them romantically.
Well, you know, I have some friends who are attracted to total douchebags and I just can't see why. Now, you recognized your deal and got away from it. Some people I think just don't know what their deal is- that's the way it is with my one friend from South Carolina. She has two kids by two dads (married both times,) and they sound like utter shitwads. She talks about these guys she dates, and she's always afraid to be honest with someone that she really likes them. I ask her, if you're afraid to be honest about something like that, what's going to happen when you're together and you have to tell him something hard?
*nods* Understandable. But feel free to hit the link and register anyway (registration is free, but required to get the preview. ) I'm sure Tor is tracking where people visit from, and I'm hoping readandfindout will be well represented in that regard. As the series draws to a close a more general focus will make more and more sense here, but in the interim the Quick Poll on which board people think will get most of their time seems very telling to me: A clear majority said they'd spend most of their time on the WoTMB.
I'm surprised by that, actually. How much of the community is really here?
