Do you think that when the bombs hit, they'll spare those who wear green?

If we hit Revolutionary Guard facilities and those facilities that help the present economy, it's not entirely clear that the under-30 demographic you fear alienating would actually be alienated.
If your going to attack their country, they're going to be alienated. When the bombs fall from American plans and kill Iranians, they're going to be alienated. If another country wages an air bombardment on the United States, what would your reaction be? Persians are just as nationalistic as we are, if not more so - they will not stand for their homeland being bombed, anymore then we would.
Anecdotal, unscientific evidence: my friend, who is Iranian, protested the Iraq War before it started. She went to visit Iranian relatives in 2004. She expected to hear a lot of support and Bush-bashing. She heard the exact opposite. In her words, "most of my relatives and their friends said that they wished Bush would bomb Iran and kill the ayatollah".
Well, that's funny, because I have many Persian friends, even my girlfriend's parents are from Iran. They're pretty unanimous about one thing. If you want to completely destroy the reform movement and ensure the regime's survival, bomb Iran tomorrow.
Do you have better evidence that bombing military targets like crazy (as well as political targets like Ahmadinejad and Khamenei - in a war they become valid targets if they are at a location that might otherwise be bombed) would turn the Iranian people against us?
See, this is the problem. You don't think it'll be an issue because you think they'd differentiate between military targets and non-military (I don't think you can consider power stations and bridges as strickly military targets, considering their important civilian functions too). Some will, but it won't matter, your attacking their nation, it's going to kill fellow Iranians and they won't stand for that. Also many have friends in family in the IRGC, because that's were all the money and jobs are. Look at the lessons of history, I don't have to remind you about the Iranian's Sacred Defense during the Iran-Iraq war. This was when the new Islamic government was still in it's infancy, many in the west were expecting the Iranian regime to crumble domestically once war got underway. Boy were they wrong - The Iranians rallied and united behind the new government and defended their nation with unnerving zeal. In fact it was from Iran-Iraq war that brought to prominence the second generation of revolutionaries - like Ahmadinejad and Rezaee.
Look, we're already in 2 wars right now, lets finish those before thinking who to bomb next.

If we were to bomb their nuclear facilities it would end up in a general war. We know that.
