But yes, it is a stretch... I think it is an attempt to say they think it is bigotry but don't know what the correct form of bigotry it is - hating on people for where they are born.
And your definition of the bigotry is disingenuous. The message in question says nothing about people but refers to a team, or at worst, a nation. It is not even expressing hatred for anyone or anything, just a preference for a certain outcome at a sporting event. Even that preference can have many reasons beyond distaste for a group of people - that particular outcome might very well have real consequences which the wearers of the tee-shirts (presumably sold to people in very close proximity to the group in question) have definite reasons for wanting to avoid.
