Couldn't help doing a little more googling, apparently the world's largest statue of Jesus was also struck by lightning and was unscathed, so I guess 'tacky' is the issue, as the Redeemer Statue in Brazil is decidedly more looming and badass, of course it's also made of stone, not flammable materials
