My thoughts exactly. Thanks for posting this. lyringlas Send a noteboard - 09/06/2010 09:13:51 PM
Regardless to whom a finger can be pointed, the problem is still there. Bitching about how BP needs to pay out, and fix things is the same as going, "well, I didn't make the mess; Person X did, so they should have to clean it up." This mentality solves nothing. The environment is being destroyed and it is everyone's responsibility-- bill BP for the clean-up charges afterwards, and if they refuse, then we'll have a multi-billion dollar lawsuit and then Obama can try to play the macho strongman and expel them from the country. It seems like the only good thing that has come out of the aftermath of this catastrophe is highlighting how politicians and figureheads of corporations will say anything and everything a person wants to hear to get the masses to shut up.

Really, Obama? Really? You're working as hard as you can on the matter? Okay. Sure. Whatever you say, big guy. I bet once the spill is nearly taken care of in 2012, then he'll start caring enough to storm in at the end, a valiant cavalier swooning to the masses of his success in defeating BP and saving the dolphins. The media will eat it up. (Sorry, I'm just extremely upset at Obama.)

This isn't me alleviating BP of any guilt; trust me, I think all of the CEOs deserve a spectacularly gruesome death consisting of firing squads, drawing and quartering, and being suffocated to death by oil submersion, but I digress. My basic point is this: the environment doesn't have time for propaganda, finger pointing, bureaucracy, and politics (read: "bull shit" for all of those things). It's depressing how few people seem to actually care about the environment. :/
