I see no benefit in a post-Cold War world of having an alliance with Turkey, especially given how much they hate us.
The threat from Russia has massivey receded, but countries in the region that the US regards as problematic include Iraq and Iran, and Turkey is obviously very close to them. Having 5,000 American troops, a huge airbase and a pile of nukes in the region is seen as strategically helpful.
