Only you could write four paragraphs as an introduction to a flash game. *NM* Ghavrel Send a noteboard - 29/05/2010 09:33:12 PM
Just before I went nuts someone at the site where I did linked the following with the suggestion of a friendly competition among site members. I don't know what role it played in the insanity that shortly ensued (although it's something else I had in common with the other primary participant. ) Anyway, a few days ago I picked it up again and thought a casual RAFO competition might be entertaining as well. SO:

Click the link below, if so inclined, select Hard and your preferred language. Once you finish the game with at least one life you'll be prompted to submit your score, and once you hit "send" you'll be prompted to submit it to a group; just enter "RAFO. " At present the score to beat is 8832 (I'm actually in there twice, but I had a couple leaks due to a sloppy endgame the first time) and you can see my maze if you click my name (only mazes from today are mine; apparently enough people still play to make a non-random unique name impossible. ) A score >9000 on Hard IS possible without juggling or a Bash tower; you just need a time bonus of 1670+ (I got 1500 even last time. )

A few tips from someone who once had too much free time:

One big tower is better than many small. When ready for the first upgrade, pick ONE with a good field of fire and fully upgrade. You may have to upgrade a neighbor some while waiting for the main tower to finish.

The preceding is especially true on the highest upgrade, which gives big bonuses.

Don't get suckered by Pellet towers lower cost and higher damage; they are ONLY for building walls, because the Squirts rate of fire more than makes up for its cost and damage, especially when fully upgraded.

Don't get suckered by Dart towers area effect, range and damage; a Bash tower is invariably far more effective if only because of stun, though it takes more thought to maximize the time passing the Bash.

If using Squirts, you need at least a level three to even dent Dark creep armor, and a level four to really hurt them; fortunately it's not an issue until level 12.

Careful with spawns and fliers; don't send both unless doing FAR more damage than needed. Spawns excel at drawing fire from big towers while fliers float blissfully past them. That's especially true on bosses, two places at least one Swarm tower is CRITICAL.

Also: Juggling is for wusses. 8)

If this belongs on the GMB, my apologies and please move it, but it's not the sort of game where one spends months leveling and overcoming progressively more difficult challenges until the epic victory scene, it's a flash game to provide a few hours or days of entertainment. Consequently I thought it would appeal to a lot of RAFOlks with little interest in the GMB (not there's anything wrong with the GMB, but some people don't play those games, and yet many of them could still enjoy this. :))
