Kerry got crap for saying he voted for the bill before he voted against it and for saying if you wanted to know what kind of leader he would be ask the people he served with knowing that many of them opposed him.

They did have a number of anchors who supported finishing and who supported the surge when those on the left were saying we should cut and run and screaming that the surge was never work. The first paragraph makes perfect sense except for lacking commas, it's slightly easier to read as "and for saying, if you wanted to know what kind of leader he would be, ask the people he served with, knowing that many of them opposed him".
And then the end of the next paragraph:
"... and screaming that the surge was never gonna work. Funny how much criticism Fox gets for being right about that, and how much chest thumping the left continues to do about being wrong."
There are extra words where the way a statement was worded changed in mid-sentence, and missing words where the brain got ahead of the keys. I'm not perfect there either, but I do try to edit for it because I know it's confusing as hell. Figuring out "I hate to speak out against your faith but it was Fox was hardly alone in not being critical of the war before it began" and "Funny how much criticism Fox gets for right about and how much chest thumping the left continues to do about being wrong" on my way to bed was simply beyond me at the time. I was never going to get "funny how much criticism Fox gets for being right about [the surge working]... " because I'm not convinced it did or has long term. The very word "surge" demonstrates what was strategically wrong with that; we couldn't expect to simply inject 20,000 or however many soldiers for a brief temporary period and then withdraw with the expectation all hell wouldn't break loose once they left, and by calling it a "surge" they made clear all the insurgency had to do was "weather the storm. " I mean, if it's worked so well, why can't we leave...?
