According to the left, the Tea Party movement is funded by corporations & the wealthy.

I have a little extra money this year that I was considering donating to the political process. It won't dent the budgets of the Dems or the GOP, but I'm guessing the Tea Party can use every cent it gets.
If I donate money to the Tea Party, but vote Democratic, am I simply being creative in how I vote with my pocketbook, or am I cynically abusing the two party system?

They don't need the money, in fact, since the sinister forces of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy have both founded and funded them from the beginning.
Some other points:
- The favorite statesman of the Tea Party movement, Ron Paul, had one of the most effective fund-raising apparatus in the 2008 election.
- There is no "Tea Party" in the sense of a political party. The Tea Parties were EVENTS, and the name is a reference to the Boston Tea Party, which was an event and not an organization or faction.
- If there is a third party in the 2012 election, donating money to it to help that party take votes from the Republican candidate to re-elect BO will undermine your agenda in the long term. If such a party is able to split the anti-Obama vote sufficiently to give him the election (and bear in mind, only seven men have ever got 50% of the popular vote running as Democrats in the last 200 years - they tend to win because of plurality votes), you will be sending a message to the Republican Party that they need to be more like the theoretical Tea Party in order to get back those votes, which will also force the Democrats closer to the center, perceiving that the money from Democrat donors indicates dissatisfaction with their own liberalism as well.

It does seem a little ethically shady, to answer your real question.
