Do you think the definition of what constitutes a good loving relationship has changed through the ages ? Are people today more loving of their partners or just making a bigger fuss than those of previous generations ?
For example, what would a 'normative' medevil peseant think when looking at his wife compared to a contemporary yuppie ?
I suspect it would be close to how Ultra Orthodox jews or some kinds of Muslims feel. Something along the lines of a good working relationship. You do this, I do that and mutual respect ( or lack of ) .
