Every time I see the BBC or Economist talk about "tabling" a bill or a proposal, I do the five-second "double-think" and realize "oh, yes, that's right, they mean they're raising it for a vote." Here in the US, "tabling" a bill is a polite way of killing it by deferring discussion on it until some later, undetermined time.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
