1. What remnants of wotmania did you save? If you chose not to save anything, what was your thinking on the matter?
I didn't save anything. I am not a saving kind of person, at least not in that way. And I guess I've been less emotionally invested than a lot of the other people who came to wotmania. Which isn't in any way meant as a slight to them. I know that a lot of people get a lot more community feeling out of this group than I do. Of which I figure I am envious in a way.
2. Did you stick around for the closing?
No, as I'm from Europe and I had to work the next day.
3. How did you feel about the whole thing - and about the subsequent transition?
I understood that sometimes you just have had enough and you don't want to invest time and money into something of which the costs do not outweigh the benefits. And to be honest, this new site is so wonderfully similar and impressive. Lots of kudos to Ben for pulling this all together. It must have been a lot of work and dedication.
4. Name changes are obvious, but are you intending to do anything differently in terms of site activity here? (Frequenting more boards, posting more thoughtfully [hahaha, I crack myself up]).
I do think that other boards here appeal more to me than the other ones at wotmania. But that might just be because I always just went to community. Still, perhaps I might just stick around here. I really can't say yet.
5. Is there anything you miss about wotmania so far? Any RAFO-related change that really pleases you?
I really have a hard time telling the difference. Sure there are some other features here and there. But all in all, no, it's just too similar to really miss anything.
6. What's your pick for our collective identity? (Rafolites, Rafonauts...)
Rafolites... just because then there are some people who are pre-rafolites.
7. What colors do you currently use?
I wasn't aware that different color palettes were already available. I always used green, so now when I visit the site I feel like I'm already logged in, even when I'm not. I still use green.
8. What color palettes would you like to see?
I have no direct opinion on the matter at this point.
9. What font do you use? (Did you know you can customize that? ) What fonts would you like added?
I haven't really checked out the site to that extent. But again, kudos to Ben for creating all this.
10. You prefer navigation bars that are:
A) On the left
B) On the right, or
C) Across the top
A) On the left
B) On the right, or
C) Across the top
I guess I just don't have a strong opinion on any of these matters. So there's little point in me answering the next set of questions.
15. Do you think it is possible for an established politician to undergo a major ideological shift? That is, a genuine one, not one for political gain.
Yes, this is possible. Usually this is due to some major life event. It doesn't happen to a lot of people, but yes, there are always converts in some form or other. So it can happen to politicians too.
16. What is your favorite way to experience nostalgia?
In front of a fire place with nice classical music and a good book.
17. Are you content with your given name & surname? If not, how come? What would you change it to if you could?
Yes, I am content. I don't think I'd have ever picked the name myself, but my parents picked it out of love for me and my grandmother (no it's not her name) and for that reason I like it.
18. Are you good with time management? If yes, any advice?
Do things as soon as they come up, finish them. Don't try to multitask.
19. What was the first piece of genuine "literature" that you remember appreciating?
Thea Beckman, wonderful Dutch author.
20. Are you on friendly terms with your neighbors? (Apartment neighbors count too.) If so, how did you get that way?
Friendly enough. But we don't come over to each other's apartments.
21. When you hang out with people, do you have the most fun on your own turf (in your apartment or home), at their place(s), or in a neutral spot, like a pub or a mall?
That really is too general to give a straight answer to. It depends, is all I can say. I do like going out, but not all places are equal.
22. If you could invite a foreign/distant friend to visit your city/town at any season or time of year, which would you pick as ideal?
Late spring. It's good weather and not too wet.
2-. Do you participate in any community-ish events? (Local markets, library book clubs, church events, etc.) Which ones?
I'm part of a group of writers that gives free advice to aspiring writers every monday from 6pm till 8pm.
