As far as I know, this is only for a couple of the Canadian ones.
I'm living in Mountain (which should be GMT-7), but it's coming out one hour ahead of me. I have to set myself to Pacific (GMT-8 ) to get the right time.

What about DST?
Is that in effect?
Same for me.
I've chosen US/Central and it shows up one hour ahead of current time.
DST shouldn't move me out of my time zone
Unless you're using UTC, which is stupid because I change back and forth between -7 and -6 depending on what time of year it is. GMT, on the other hand, I'm always -7.
DST does need to be taken into account

Consider for example that the southern hemisphere has DST in other parts of the year the Britain does (as does the US, for that matter). Could both of you please just state whether DST is in effect and if that could theoretically account for the difference?
Yes.
DST is currently in effect in the US. We have "sprung forward" an hour until November.
Sprung forward, yes *NM*
