Nested quotes kill loading time?

...Larry and Camilla have a string of replies with nested quotes. For me every one took longer to load than the last, and I couldn't even open Larry's last reply. Each reply contains a cumulatively larger nest of quotes, so I think retrieving or building that nest is what caused load times to go through the roof.

Dunno what's happening here, but it's nothing to do with the quotes.
