It was a bug that annoyed me at Wotmania, and I know it has something to do with how the codes are transcribed, but it is very annoying to end quote tags just before a parenthesis and get a winking smiley where one should not be.
Come on. it will be fixed when you can shut down smileys in your post.

I always hated this, to the point where I have to remind myself not to add a space between various punctuation and closed quotation marks or parentheses outside the boards. Perhaps smilies could be put in brackets or something? 'Cos, honestly, I don't see a way for the board to magically know when " , ) " is supposed to be a wink and when it's just a comma inside closed parentheses.

One should never close a parenthesis with any other punctuation mark than a full stop (or equivalent) or an ended quote. That's a whole different issue from " getting escaped to & quote ;, which is the issue here.

Ugh. Horrible bug. Nothing can be done without spending lots of time on it. I'm putting this on hold for the time being.
