...the protagonist about to settle a long-standing, sexual-tension-fraught relationship, after a tremendous, exhausting - physically & emotionally - battle that ends a long-running subplot in the series, only to get shot, fall in a lake, move "towards the light" while hearing familiar voices, only to have the light become, either literally or figuratively, an oncoming train.

At least another year to find out WTF is going on. Whee.
