It's not an all-encompassing rule - for instance, I like Chekov, and I liked Crime and Punishment.
I've read Doctor Zhivago, but I was bored of it all the way through. It's just... something in the style makes me not-happy. I couldn't care less about those two women, or the supposedly sensitive doctor...
... Something about Russian literature sometimes bores me, is all.
It's a pity, really, because it is obvious I am missing out on something.
