Same goes for Jon and Dany. I think those three are the only "safe" characters, at least until the last book. Maybe Bran and Rickon, Sansa and Arya. But I wouldn't count on them.
If Tyrion was to die in the next book or so, and it was not amazingly awesomely stupendously every-other-ly heroic and cool of a death scene, GRRMs fans would revolt. Killing the characters he already has killed is one thing; but to kill Tyrion? Nah, he woulnd't do it. He'd probably end up having to hire bodyguards if he did that.
