So I ended up reading this book series because tons of friends (dare I call them that after recommending this rubbish??) told me that it was amazing, I would fall in love with Edward, yadda yadda <insert bull shit that isn't true here>.
I need to go gargle with some turpentine to get the taste of Mormon fantasy out of my mouth. Mormon fantasy...isn't that an oxymoron?
Somehow I did not see that one coming, and I do wonder what Meyer would think of it.
As for Mormon fantasy being an oxymoron, I don't know, you'd think their holy books would be rather an inspiration to be creative... and there are a few notable Mormon speculative fiction writers, after all (I only just realized that maybe this is why Meyer expressed such admiration for Orson Scott Card).
Don't worry, Lego, I didn't see it coming either. After I read that book series I was speechless, but not in a good way. I couldn't believe people bought that rubbish. Actually, now that I think about it, I still have one of the books defacing my book shelf at home. I am going to go take it to Half-Price books, even though I am going to be embarrassed taking it up to the counter. Maybe I'll just make it a shim for a table and call it quits. Think about what StephMey has done to the environment? That sheisse mowed down a couple of forests. I hate her.
As I don't believe we've actually had a review of this yet... Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series.

As I said, the second book is better in some regards thanks to that.

Well, there are a few books she explicitly references and cites as inspiration.

Yeah. It's one of those things that sound worse out of context than they are in the book itself...

I read a lot of PNR (paranormal romance for you book snobs out there) and thus have read these too.
