As for those three, really all three kind of for the reason Jonte mentioned for Mappo Runt: they are among the more balanced, common-sense characters that provide some stability among the madness. Mappo for Icarium, Samar for Karsa, Whiskeyjack for the Bridgeburners in general. 
Also, Blend. I like her interactions with Picker, Antsy and the others.
