First, I thought Mistborn was a stronger series opener - but then Mistborn was written by a more polished and experienced writter than Brown is (Sanderson had loads more experience at that time than Brown does now). But that's really not the point.
It took me a bit to get into and I had issues with its uneveness and characterization, but the my biggest reaction to this book is 'Potential'. This story and world are oozing potential and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next.
Any interested - I have a full review at the blog and a short interview with Brown.
