That's not what I meant. Werthead Send a noteboard - 13/12/2009 05:37:07 AM
I meant, well, ASoS came out in 2000, WH came out in 2000, I could have said that DEADHOUSE GATES came out in 2000, or whatever Feist book came out that year (one of the godawful KRONDOR ones, I think) or any other fantasy series that was incomplete then that is incomplete now, and will not be completed for some time.

It was basically a way of asking the OP's point because I'm pretty certain after the last few we don't need YET ANOTHER thread about the author being late, Gaiman's Law being invoked, Rothfuss and Lynch being brought up, someone piping up that Erikson delivers a book every year, the writing time of Tolkien coming up, spurious comparisons with other authors being presented and the thread climaxing in a nuclear fireball that outshines a million suns before we all agree that Melanie Rawn will never complete THE CAPITAL'S TOWER.

Especially as I suspect we will have an update about ADWD in the next month or two which will likely lead to the same thing anyway.

And the author had the mild inconvenience of getting sick and dying, which to my knowledge is not particularly conducive to writing

I wasn't being an arsehole about that that issue, to be honest, as my name is not Terry Goodkind, and apologies if anyone thought that was the case (that I was an arsehole, not that my name is Terry Goodkind because it isn't, and if you thought that, then that's a bit weird Let's move on).

I fully acknowledge that if Robert Jordan was still with us, we'd probably have had Book 12 a year ago if not earlier (but we'd still have one or more books to go).

We've all heard Neil "You think he's God" Gaiman's stupid thoughts. Many of us disagree. *NM* - 10/12/2009 03:55:17 PM 331 Views
