The only one out her Pern books that I've read is Dragonflight, which I liked well enough, but that was a long time ago. 
And I'm going to agree with Lightsong, Terry Pratchett is probably the best of the Terrys. Though maybe I shouldn't say, since I've never read anything by Goodkind, and only a couple by Brooks. But I have a hard time imagining it could be better than Pratchett. He's the coolest!
