I will reiterate: 92.689% of statistics used in an argument are made up on the spot imlad Send a noteboard - 03/12/2009 05:39:36 PM
You know, I think that Harper's Bazaar actually mentioned a statistic like this with an actual solid number there, but it was sooooo damned long ago (um, mid 80s) when I read Harper's Index that I don't remember the actual number, so I make up a new one each time :P
Now don't get me wrong I like escapism crap in the correct doses but if you want to be considered a serious writer you really don't want to be labeled a genre writer. Genre books tend to be rather formulaic and tend to focus more on the plot and the characters then the style and prose.

There is a reason Kurt Vonnegut gets put in the ligature section even when he write about time travel and aliens.

And that includes 90% of so-called 'literary fiction' as well, to be frank.
Death to the Regressives of the GOP and the TeaParty. No mercy for Conservatives. Burn them all at the stake for the hateful satanists they are.
