I've been intrigued for too long. I want the experience. But I'd like to know a few things first.
I know it's somewhat of a horror. I know it defies classification, but that it is kind of the story of a haunted house. I've heard that it is "an experience."
I don't read much horror. I don't watch many scary shows, simply because they never look interesting enough. I don't care for the slashy blood and gore, and would much rather watch something like The Sixth Sense or Signs, even if those aren't terribly scary shows.
I don't mind scary, but I don't want disturbing. Am I going to be scarred from reading this book? I don't mean freaked out, that's okay. I'm okay with jumping at loud noises and feeling uncomfortable when alone in the dark, but I don't want to have images burned into my head that disgust me.
And last, how is the language? I don't need it to be super-censored, but I get very tired of reading the f-bomb multiple times per page.
So it's scary, or at least, "an experience". That's cool. But is it clean scary? Or gory perverse disgusting scary?
And to make answering this post even harder, I'd like to know as little as possible about the book before I read it. So the fewer examples you guys can give me out of the book the better .
