Ever since I described French as "curly" and English as "round" to a student of mine and he told me that he had synestesia, too; and I then noticed that he makes the same weird things in essay writing as I do, I have been thinking that quite a few of the "weird" things I do may be related to it. I do not understand the simply organising things according to a pattern like the alphabet or publishing period (although I do have a shelf for "old books"), but look for other similarities. It sounds like you do much the same.

My main problem is that literary theory ALSO has colour, which leads me to find similarities between theorists who are not following the same theory, which makes it hard to argue that they are talking about the same thing.
My wife has that one where letters have a certain colour, and I think that's just bizarre. Of course, my spatial visualisation of numbers, days of the week and months of the year is, to her mind, "absolutely counterintuitive".
