but I'm glad I got to read the review because of it, had missed it before. I don't really imagine I'd have read the book either way, but it was a very nice and entertaining review. I agree with several of your points, of course... how it is any better to have "F***" or "beep" or "Eff" than "fuck" when everybody knows what the intended word is, I never did get. If people *know* that "fuck" is what you mean, does it really matter if you write something else instead, or if it's bleeped over? It's not gonna be any less rude that way. And as you point out, there are ways of being just as rude or even ruder without uttering or implying any crude word.
