Does he get all Islamaphobic in this one like he did in the Illium series? And, does his Hyperion series do that to? I admit he's a good writer, and for the most part I liked the Illium storyline, but the Islamaphobia really bugged me a lot (and I am not a muslim, no way could I make myself a "slave to god" which I feel is contrary to what a "perfect" diety would wish).
It is very good. It does have some flaws (and the review linked below is mildly spoilery) but overall the atmosphere, writing and characterisation are excellent.
Death to the Regressives of the GOP and the TeaParty. No mercy for Conservatives. Burn them all at the stake for the hateful satanists they are.
Ugh, I hate deciding what to read next.

Re: Tolkien. I haven't read the Bachman, and The Terror was neither bad nor remarkable. *NM*

If you've already read the Silmarillion, don't bother with the Tolkein book.
