It may be "juvenille", but authors like Lackey, Pierce (yes I know she's "young adult", Hobb, etc... are really just making my day. I don't get a lot of time to read and I spend most of my day nose deep in textbooks, a cadaver or a microscope, so being able to just lay back and read something with meaning that doesn't make my brain hurt more is really nice.

You should try Jane Yolen too.
Heinlein, in my opinion, is frequently better read for his young adult SF than his adult SF. Some of the latter is great but much of it is preachy, pedantic and annoying.
