I've read the books several times and I love them. The story changes quite a bit after the first three books, but I'm not sure if you would consider it better or worse. Probably the latter. But I also love romance novels in addition to fantasy so this book combined the two genres really well for me.
I'm not saying it's an epic on par with many of the other great fantasy series. But for me it's an enojoyable read and I really hope that Elizabeth Haydon finishes the series because I will definitly keep reading it.
By the way, I do agree that Rhapsody gets rather annoying at times, and that Achmed is the most awesome character!
