And don't expect it to be too much like the film – especially at the end, which was completely changed. The book is infinitely more subtle and poignant.
For the record, I thought the changes they made were sensible and necessary, given that it had to be a film rather than a book, but it is essentially two different stories with the same starting premise.
Also, I have to break it to you that there's no Captain Shakespeare in the book.
