I read this shortly after it came out. I thought it was a decent book, short and fun. Nothing I would heap praise on and nothing that I would expect to win any awards (though it did). I am not affected by it being a children's book. I will read anything that sounds interesting and this book was definitely that. As I have not read The Jungle Book, it is quite likely that I did not get as much out of it as other readers.
